The Park Forest of Szigliget

It lies above the village of Szigliget in the southwestern part of the Tapolca Basin in the the area of the Monostorapáti Forestry.
On the top of the 229-metre-high volcanic hill there are the ruined walls of an irregularly shaped castle facing north and south.Recent years have witnessed large-scale exploration works and the renovation plans have been completed. The renovation of the Szigliget castle is still going on.

On the hill you can walk along the geological and botanical nature trail, which has been established by the Balaton National Park, where you can find bilingual information boards. Along the trail you can study peculiar basalt shapes and former mine walls. You encounter geological sites that demonstrate particular moments of the geological past. The length of nature trail is nearly 4 km. You can access it from the southern side of Badacsony Hill from the Kisfaludy House.

Csodabogyós Cave

Near Balatonederics, in the beautiful forest of the Balaton Uplands
National Park there is the strictly protected, more than 5 km long
Csodabogyós Cave. Certain branches of the cave have been opened to the
public. If you are curious to see this extraordinary underground world, if you
are interested in the history of the development of the cave and would like
to admire the spectacular dripstones, discover the awe-inspiring sights under
the conduct of our skilled tour guides! Depending on your habitude and confidence
you can choose between the standard tour of 1.5–2 hours and the advanced
tour of 3.5–4 hours. Caving overall, helmet and headlamp are provided for you. You only need to appear at the base building (red START label on the
map) 30 minutes before the tour starts, wearing boots you don’t mind getting
dirty and comfortable clothes. As not only the cave but also the surface
area are strictly protected, we approach the cave entrance on foot (an approx
40-minute-long walk uphill).
Standard tours start for 8–13 people, advanced tours start for 5–8 people during
the whole year by prior arrangement at 8:00, 10:00, 12:00, 14:00 and 16:00
hours (start of advanced tours: by appointment).

Róza Szegedy House Literary Memorial Museum

The house of imposing size and the adjoining land were brought into her marriage by Róza Szegedy when she became the wife of the poet Sándor Kisfaludy in 1800. Badacsony became the favourite residence of the pair. They led a lively social life, particularly during the extended vintage period. They were heavily involved with cultivation; Róza Szegedy's vermouth became famous throughout the country. The press house has been a literary memorial museum since 1953, and after renovation, an interior exhibition was opened in 1990. In the main building of the three, objects from the surroundings in which the couple lived are on display, as well as important stages in the life and carrier of Sándor Kisfaludy. In the premises where the once-famous spiced wine was prepared, visitors can find a selection of the classic wine verses of Hungarian literature. In the vine-dresser's house, manuscripts of verses on the theme of Lake Balaton by contemporary Hungarian poets bear witness to the radiant ethos of the region.

Badacsonytomaj is the centre of Badacsony wine region.
Wide variety of programmes in summer and autumn in Badacsony. Outstanding events are the Wine Weeks of Badacsony starting at the end of July and the Badacsony Vintage in the middle of September. Folly Botanic Garden with great trees and evergreens offers recreation if you walk to Badacsonyörs.
